Taini Jamison Trophy down to final Test after Ferns loss

2021-09-23T14:38+10:00

Silver Ferns captain Gina Crampton believes England’s game plan put her team under too much pressure on Wednesday night, as the Taini Jamison Trophy comes down to the third and final Test.

The Roses claimed last night’s match 55-45 in Christchurch after a sensational third quarter saw them turn the tables on the Ferns, who are the reigning world champions.

New Zealand claimed the first Test 48-42, meaning the winner of the series will now come down the decider.

Crampton missed Wednesday night’s match with injury, but watching from the bench she believes the Ferns will “need to be better prepared” for their next match.

“It’s definitely hard to watch from the sidelines,” she told SENZ Breakfast with Baz and Izzy.

“I was impressed with the first half that we put out there, and I think we just got a bit disconnected in the second half.

“England are proving that their marking is up there with Australia now, it’s the game plan that they’ve adopted.

“We need to be better prepared for that and recognise that a bit earlier and not be putting ourselves under so much pressure.”

The third and final Test is on Friday night, with the winner to claim the series.
