The weather is perfect with a top temperature of 27 degrees forecast, the track is rated a Good (4) this morning.

Race 1 # 2 FORTIFIED
Happy to take the short odds available about this Chris Waller trained galloper who was impressive winning second up at Doomben.
He was very strong to the line on that occasion & will be further suited by the step up to 1850m this afternoon. He really does appear head & shoulders above his opposition.
Race 5 # 2 WHITEWATER
Many runners in the Guineas face the mile for the first time. This David Vandyke trained galloper is one of those however based on his solid finishing effort behind the smart filly Startantes last start he’s going to lap it up!
His sectionals although not quite up with her were clearly second best in the race. Ryan Maloney will give him a nice quiet ride before finishing hard at the business end.

Race 2 # 6 DEEP SCEIVA
Should be rock hard fit at her third run back from a break this afternoon. Thought her last start effort at Doomben was a very good one when leading off the fence unable to cross until near the 600m.
She gave plenty in the straight & was only run down late being beaten narrowly on the line. Perfectly drawn today she’ll race up on the pace again with the light weight & has winning form out to this longer trip.
Race 8 # 1 SOXAGON
Local hope who has likely been set for this Listed race & with the nice draw he’s a terrific chance of landing the major end of the prize.
Only got warm inside the final 100m first up at Doomben over the slightly shorted trip & he is a three time winner over the 1200m.
There’s not a lot of pace on the map suggesting Brad Stewart will need to have him in the first four or five in the run, if he can do that lookout late!
