Sam Edmund's trade update on two likely Collingwood recruits, a fringe Blue, Jordan Clark and more

2021-09-25T13:21+10:00

The trade and free agency period is only days away from beginning, with the season to conclude on Saturday night as Melbourne and Western Bulldogs battle it out in this year's Grand Final.

SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund has updates on a whole host of names, including news on two likely Collingwood requests and the “really important” meetings scheduled next week to decide Jordan Clark’s future at Geelong.

Check out Edmund’s latest trade update below:

Nathan Kreuger (Geelong)

“He will go to Collingwood,” he said on SEN’s Crunch Time.

“(He’s played) two games in three seasons at Geelong, he turned down a two-year offer from the Cats and there was interest from the Saints as well.

“He wants to play forward and the Pies are keen to support Brody Mihocek and Darcy Cameron (in the forward line).

“It sounds like a three-year deal at the Pies so expect that one to be ticked off.”

Jordan Clark (Geelong)

“Some really important meeting are scheduled between him, his management and Geelong next week,” Edmund said.

“He’s a defender but the problem being is the Cats weren’t too keen on him playing at half back (this year).

“The Cats would’ve liked him to develop a harder edge, Matthew Scarlett was a factor in him not playing regular football and of course Scarlett has since left (the club).

“I’m told there’s a bit more to it, he is contracted and the Cats do not want to let him go.”

Mason Cox (Collingwood)

“He could still stay at Collingwood,” he said.

“The Pies want to get (Nathan) Kreuger in so they need more picks and points for Nick Daicos, but they would do a deal for (Mason) Cox if one emerges."

Pat Lipinski (Western Bulldogs)

“He’ll find a new home and it won’t be Carlton,” he said.

“I believe he will be a Collingwood player next year like (Nathan) Kreuger, a three-year deal is on the table from the Dogs who want him to say but as we know, he hasn’t got a look in playing-wise.

“Expect Pat Lipinski to be playing for Craig McRae next year.”

Lochie O’Brien (Carlton)

“He’s one of several Carlton players who doesn’t know what his future holds,” he said.

“That’s one for later in the trade period.”
