Port Adelaide is showing interest in Hawthorn forward Tim O’Brien, according to SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund.
The 27-year-old is a restricted free agent, having not currently re-signed for next season under new coach Sam Mitchell.
Edmund said O’Brien is looking at his options for 2022, with the Power signalling their interest in luring him to South Australia.
“(Tim O'Brien) hasn’t received any contract offer from Hawthorn yet,” he told AFL Trade Radio.
“I think joining the dots, he would be aware that if (a contract) was going to happen, it would’ve happened by now so he thinks he’ll be playing elsewhere if given the chance.
“Port Adelaide is one of the clubs that have enquired about Tim O’Brien, possibly even as a defender I’ve been told but clearly he can play forward as well.
“He would offer some insurance up forward for Charlie Dixon, it’s very early in the process here and if it does come to fruition, you’d think it would be later rather than sooner.
“But Port Adelaide has come knocking for Tim O’Brien.”
O’Brien played 18 games for the Hawks this year, kicking five goals.
