Sheehan’s two smokeys in this year’s National Draft

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan has put forward two smokeys to keep an eye on in this year’s National Draft.

Murray Bushrangers talent Tom Brown is an exciting prospect who possess “mercurial-type ability” through traffic, according to Sheehan.

“He’s a boy from the Murray Bushrangers,” Sheehan told SEN Afternoons.

“His dad Paul Brown didn’t quite play 100 games at Geelong. He’s in the open draft and this kid has got some mercurial-type ability through traffic.

“When he comes off half-back or plays half-forward, he just steps through them as if they’re not there at times.

“He’s got great speed, breaks away on many, many occasions as well.”

Sheehan also singled out Subiaco midfielder-forward Neil Erasmus as a player he expects to go in the first round of the 2021 draft.

“I like the kid Neil Erasmus, a boy from Subiaco and born in South Africa,” the draft guru said.

“This boy was a star cricketer that has come to footy in the last 12 months and I loved what I saw in that Australia v Geelong’s VFL side earlier in the year, and what he did over in WA this year in the lead-in to National games.

“He had a corkie, so he’s missed the National stage … but he’ll still go first round this boy – a really gifted half-forward/midfielder, strong, he’s attack on the ball and skill in the air around goals are all pretty elite.

“Add them to the names of (Nick) Daicos and Jason Horne-Francis.”

This year’s National Draft will reportedly be held over two nights - Wednesday November 24 and Thursday November 25.
