Dagg “reasonably happy” with All Blacks squad for Springboks Test

2021-10-01T11:45+10:00

All Blacks coach Ian Foster has swung the axe ahead of the their upcoming Test against the Springboks on Saturday.

Ethan Blackadder has come out of the starting line-up, while wingers Will Jordan and George Bridge have been dropped from the squad of 23.

“I know Ethan Blackadder was a tough selection for Ian Foster,” former All Black Israel Dagg told SENZ Breakfast with Baz and Izzy.

“I think there is a plan in place why they want to bring on Damian Mckenzie (from the bench), someone who will bring a lot of energy at that backend.”

All Blacks pair Jordan and Bridge were both dumped from the squad after poor performances in their last outings.

“They’ve wielded the axe and got rid of both Will Jordan and George bridge,” Dagg said.

“Fozzy (Ian Foster) wasn’t impressed and put them on notice.”

Richie Mo’unga will also make his All Blacks return from the bench, while Brad Weber has been selected to start at halfback over TJ Perenara.

“I thought (Brad) Weber was outstanding last week so he deserves the start this week,” Dagg said.

“I am reasonably happy with the squad they have selected.”

Rieko Ioane also moves from centre to the left wing while Sevu Reece will start on the right wing, where both hope to impress under the high ball.

The All Blacks will face the Springboks in the final Test of the Rugby Championship on the Gold Coast.
