Fremantle GM of Football Peter Bell has confirmed the club’s interest in Gold Coast midfielder Will Brodie.
Brodie is out of contract at the end of 2022 and has played 25 career games since being selected with pick nine in the 2016 National Draft.
The 23-year-old has struggled to get a consistent game in the Gold Coast midfield, only making four appearances in 2021.
With the Dockers set to lose Adam Cerra to Carlton, Bell said they are keen to fill the midfield void he will leave.
“Will’s someone we’re interested in for sure,” Bell told AFL Trade Radio.
“With Adam leaving we’d like to bring in a midfielder, whether it be through the trade mechanisms or potentially through the draft. There would be some high-end midfielders available in the top 10 … but also we would be crazy not to look at trade opportunities.
“I think Gold Coast has expressed their support for Will to look around, so we have been talking to Will and his manager about what that could potentially look like.
“At his size and perhaps in a different environment, he could reach that potential of being a top 10 pick.
“He’s got some great attributes and he is one we’re talking to.”
