Essendon has emerged as the likely destination for GWS youngster Ian ‘Bobby’ Hill as the small forward explores a move to Victoria for family reasons.
As broken by Fox Footy’s Tom Morris, Hill’s management informed the Giants on Friday of his desire to move to Melbourne.
While the 21-year-old is contracted through 2022, AFL.com.au’s Callum Twomey says the Bombers are interested in luring the speedster south, while the Herald Sun’s Marc McGowan reported on Sunday that they’re now the clear “frontrunner”.
The move for Hill comes after Suns small forward Malcolm Rosas knocked back an offer from Essendon last month.
While Twomey says the Giants won’t be keen on trading Hill, his loss could open the door for the club to increase their offer for Dockers forward Rory Lobb.
GWS and Fremantle reportedly discussed a trade for the ruck/forward on Friday.
