It’s the news Victorian horse racing fans have been hoping for, spectators have been given the all-clear to attend the Melbourne Cup.
State Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed that 10,000 fully vaccinated fans will be able to attend the race day at Flemington on November 2.
The same number of fans will also be able to attend Oaks Day and Stakes Day if the 80 per cent fully vaccinated target is reached.
According to the Herald Sun, fans will be spread across a number of zones at Flemington with allocated seats.
They will be required to wear a mask and be fully vaccinated, or have an exemption.
The events are part of a trial of how the state’s economy will run once it hits 80 per cent vaccination thresholds.
