New Victorian suitor tables offer to contracted Giant Hill

2021-10-12T10:34+11:00

Collingwood has shown interest in wantaway GWS small forward Ian ‘Bobby’ Hill, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.

Hill has multi-year deals on the table from both the Magpies and Essendon after requesting a trade from the Giants with a year to run on his contract.

The 21-year-old wants to play for a Victorian-based club on compassionate grounds.

Edmund understands that Hill is determined to join the Bombers despite Collingwood’s interest.

“Collingwood have come in for Bobby Hill with some significant interest,” Edmund told AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Mornings.

“He approached Essendon, not the other way around, Collingwood have come in after the fact to try and get a deal done for Bobby Hill.

“How they would actually do that when you look at the (draft) points is unclear. We know that if the bid comes for Nick Daicos at pick two, how do they get it done for Bobby Hill? They obviously think they can get it done because they met with the player over the weekend.

“Multiple year deals on the table from Essendon and Collingwood for Bobby Hill.

“He’s determined to get to Essendon, so even after Collingwood have come in, he really wants to play for Essendon.”

Essendon are on the market for a small forward having expressed interest in Gold Coast youngster Malcolm Rosas and former Adelaide and Richmond livewire Tyson Stengle.

As things stand, the Bombers hold picks 11, 51, 56 and 87 in this year’s draft.
