Essendon club banner

IN
Jake Kelly (from Adelaide)

OUT
Nothing

SNAPSHOT
Aside from adding defender Jake Kelly, it’s been fairly quiet for the annual trade premiers. The Bombers were linked with Giants small forward Bobby Hill late but nothing eventuated.

OUT
Will Brodie (to Fremantle)
Picks 19, 22, 46, 58, 61, 69 and 79
Future 4th-round pick

SNAPSHOT
Gold Coast has comprehensively traded out of this year’s draft, instead loading up on picks in 2022. They’ve done this given their list is already close to maxed out and they lack salary cap wiggle room. Will Brodie heads to Fremantle while Mabior Chol joins as a free agent.

GWS Giants club banner

IN
Future 3rd-round pick

OUT
Jeremy Finlayson (to Port Adelaide)

SNAPSHOT
After nothing eventuated with Bobby Hill, it ended as a quiet trade period for GWS. They offloaded Jeremy Finlayson to Port Adelaide and didn’t get much in return, while a mooted play for Rory Lobb fell through.

Hawthorn club banner

IN
Max Lynch (from Collingwood)
Future 3rd-round

OUT
Jon Ceglar (to Geelong)
Tim O’Brien (to Western Bulldogs)

SNAPSHOT
Despite talk from the outside, the Hawks were actually fairly quiet. They were linked to trades involving star trio Tom Mitchell, Jaeger O’Meara, Luke Breust and Chad Wingard, none of which have gathered any steam. They lost utility Tim O’Brien as a free agent to the Western Bulldogs, but added ruckman Max Lynch from Collingwood.

Melbourne club banner

IN
Luke Dunstan (from St Kilda)
Picks 17, 37 and 49

OUT
Picks 33 and 45
Future 1st-round pick

SNAPSHOT
The Demons have worked hard to improve their list immediately, adding depth with midfielder Luke Dunstan and giving up their future first-round selection to improve their hand in this year’s draft.

North Melbourne club banner

IN
Callum Coleman-Jones (from Richmond)
Picks 42 and 47
Future 4th-round pick

OUT
Robbie Tarrant (to Richmond)
Pick 40
Future 2nd-round pick

SNAPSHOT
North Melbourne continues to stockpile young talent, adding Callum Coleman-Jones as their ruckman of the future. Heading out the door was veteran defender Robbie Tarrant as he looks to find some success at Richmond. They were unable to sort a deal with St Kilda for depth ruckman Tristan Xerri.

Port Adelaide club banner

IN
Jeremy Finlayson (from GWS)
Pick 12
Future 3rd-round pick

OUT
Peter Ladhams (to Sydney)
Pick 16
Future 3rd-round pick

SNAPSHOT
Added tall forward depth and support for Charlie Dixon by bringing Jeremy Finlayson in from the Giants. Lost Peter Ladhams to Sydney but slid up the draft order by obtaining pick 12.

Richmond club banner

IN
Robbie Tarrant (from North Melbourne)
Pick 40
Future 2nd-round pick
End of 2nd-round compensation (for Coleman-Jones)

Mabior Chol (to Gold Coast)
Callum Coleman-Jones (to North Melbourne)

St Kilda club banner

IN
Picks 62 and 66
Future 4th-round pick

OUT
Pick 49

SNAPSHOT
Very quiet compared to previous seasons. Identified Tristan Xerri as ruck insurance for their Ryder-Marshall combination, but were unable to get that done.

Sydney club banner

IN
Peter Ladhams (from Port Adelaide)
Pick 16
End of 2nd-round compensation (for Hewett)
Future 1st-round pick (tied to Melbourne, for Dawson), future 3rd

OUT
George Hewett (to Carlton)
Jordan Dawson (to Adelaide)
Pick 12

SNAPSHOT
Spent a lot of their time getting the best deal for Jordan Dawson which went through on deadline day. Also added ruck-forward Peter Ladhams from the Power. Lost a tough inside mid in George Hewett, but will be pleased with a compo pick at the back of the 2nd round.

West Coast club banner

IN
Sam Petrevski-Seton (from Carlton)

OUT
Pick 52

SNAPSHOT
Brought in a former top 10 pick with ties to WA. The third-round pick will seem unders if they manage to get the best out of Petrevski-Seton.

Western Bulldogs banner

IN
Tim O'Brien (from Western Bulldogs)
Picks 23, 43, 44, 45 and 52

OUT
Patrick Lipinski (to Collingwood)
Lewis Young (to Carlton)
