Report: Ex-Blue Casboult thrown an AFL lifeline

2021-10-19T13:59+11:00

Levi Casboult has been thrown an AFL lifeline by the Gold Coast Suns, who will select the delisted utility in the upcoming rookie draft, according to Fox Footy’s Tom Morris.

Casboult was told in August he would not be offered a new contract at the Blues and was open on his desire to continue his AFL career.

However, he received no concrete interest during the trade period.

The 31-year-old played 151 games for Carlton, but wasn't apart of the club's best 22 in the back half of 2021.

The Suns have struggled for key position players to support emerging young forward Ben King and would benefit from Casboult’s frame.

They also added former Tiger Mabior Chol during the trade period to increase their stocks in that area of the ground.

The rookie draft will be held on November 26, with the National Draft to be held on the 24th and 25th.
