Reports: Michael Slater arrested after alleged incident

Former Australian batsman Michael Slater has reportedly been arrested after an alleged domestic violence incident.

According to multiple reports, Slater was taken into custody after being arrested at his Manly home on Wednesday morning. No charges have been laid.

New South Wales police released the following statement: “Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation yesterday after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday 12 October 2021.

“Following inquiries, detectives attended a home at Manly about 9.20am and spoke with a 51-year-old man. He has since been arrested and taken to Manly Police Station.”

Slater, who played 74 Tests and 42 ODIs for Australia, was reportedly let go by cricket broadcaster Channel 7 ahead of the Australian summer.

He scored 5312 Test runs for Australia, including 14 centuries.
