Unvaccinated players will be free to compete in January’s Australian Open, per leaked emails to the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) from tournament director Craig Tilley.
According to the email, unvaccinated players will be able to play in the opening slam of 2022, as long as they complete 14 days of hotel quarantine upon entry into Australia.
Those players can arrive in Australia any time after December 1 where they can begin their hard quarantine period.
In addition, unvaccinated players must test negative to COVID within 72 hours of their departure and submit to regular testing once they’re in Australia.
Vaccinated players will also be able to enter the country any time from December 1, but they won’t be required to quarantine or stay within a bubble.
They will have complete freedom of movement if they have a negative test within 72 hours of their departure and another negative test within 24 hours of their arrival into Australia.
