South Australian draft prospect Matthew Roberts says he’s spoken to 16 AFL clubs ahead of November’s National Draft.
The young midfielder-forward has been touted as a potential top 20 pick and showcased his potential playing for South Adelaide in the SANFL, teaming up with fellow young gun Jason Horne-Francis.
Roberts, who missed a portion of the season due to a syndesmosis ankle injury, kicked two goals from 10 disposals in the Panthers’ Preliminary Final loss to Glenelg.
An Adelaide Crows fan growing up, the 18-year-old gave an insight into the type of questions he was asked by AFL recruiters, including a curly one from left-field.
“I’ve spoken to 16 clubs all up,” Roberts told SEN SA’s Kymbo and The Rooch.
“It’s probably a bit hard to read at the moment. They (the clubs) don’t give too much away.
“They’ve been mainly trying to find out a bit about my background at this stage.
“Asking where I’m from, where I grew up, a bit about family and school, what I do outside of footy.
“They throw in a few curly questions like what your Wikipedia page would know about you and stuff that catches you off guard a bit.”
Roberts prides himself on his kicking, decision making and hitting the scoreboard.
The opening night of this year’s draft is slated for November 24.
