Dragons legend urges Dolphins to not copy “iconic“ Red V jersey

2021-10-27T14:36+11:00

St George legend Craig Young doesn’t want the Redcliffe Dolphins to steal his club’s famous ‘Red V’ design as they ponder jersey choices for their NRL inclusion in 2023.

Speaking on SEN 1170 Breakfast, Andrew Voss says the club is currently working through what design they’ll go with when they enter the competition, with one of the potential options being a red jumper with a ‘White V’.

In what would effectively be a Dragons’ jersey inverted, St George Illawarra could reportedly ask the NRL to step in to ensure their “iconic design isn’t copied“.

“Dragons legend Craig Young has warned The Dolphins to stay away from copying his club’s famous Red V design,” Voss said.

“Redcliffe is considering several jumper designs which include a red jumper with a ‘White V’.

“The Telegraph are reporting that the Dragons may step in to ensure their iconic jumper design isn’t copied by The Dolphins.

“Craig Young told The Telegraph, ‘There’s only one team that’ll wear the Red V, and that’s us’, the Red V started nearly 100 years ago, it’s one of the most iconic brands in world sport’.”

Playing in the Queensland Cup, The Dolphins have worn variations of red and white jerseys, with some designs including a ‘White V’.
