2021-11-05T16:06+11:00

Tyson Stengle has joined Geelong as a free agent.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Cats, joining the club from SANFL side Woodville-West Torrens.

Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said the club was delighted to bring in the talented small forward

“It is rare to be able to pick up such a young player as a free agent, and we are thrilled that Tyson has decided to continue his career with Geelong,” Lloyd said in a club statement.

“Tyson has shown an ability to play at AFL level, and he had a very successful season in the SANFL. We believe Tyson has the ability to have a long career at AFL level and he is a positive addition to our playing list.”

Formerly of Richmond and Adelaide, Stengle has previously kicked 15 goals from 16 AFL games.

He debuted for the Tigers in 2017 and played twice for a return of two goals in the yellow and black.

Stengle then joined the Crows prior to the 2019 season and played 14 times and kicked 13 goals for the South Australian club.

The Woodville product returned to his former club in 2021 and kicked 44 goals as the Eagles won the SANFL premiership.
