Suns “strongly considering” delisted midfielder

2021-11-17T15:41+11:00

Gold Coast is “strongly considering” drafting delisted Geelong midfielder Charlie Constable, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.

Edmund understands Constable has nominated for this month’s National Draft and the Suns are weighing up whether to select the 22-year-old.

Hugh Greenwood’s shock departure from Gold Coast to North Melbourne this week has opened up a spot on the club’s primary list.

Constable was culled by the Cats in October after playing just 12 games in three seasons.

“He (Constable) has today nominated for the National Draft, so that paperwork is in,” Edmund told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“He was delisted by Geelong last month - he is now being strongly considered by Gold Coast, who are weighing up whether to take the midfielder in the wake of Hugh Greenwood’s sudden departure to North Melbourne.”

Constable, who was selected with pick No.36 in the 2017 National Draft, was unable to break into Geelong’s star-studded midfield, despite impressive VFL form.

The National Draft takes place on November 24 and 25.
