The two clubs potential top five pick could join in the draft

2021-11-23T07:27+11:00

Sandringham Dragons talent Finn Callaghan is a projected top five pick in the upcoming National Draft.

With Jason Horne-Francis, Nick Daicos and Sam Darcy likely to be snapped up with the first three selections, Callaghan could land at GWS with pick No.4.

The Giants currently hold pick No.2, but will likely fall two spots in the draft order after Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs match bids for Daicos and Darcy respectively.

Gold Coast could also come into the equation with their first selection – currently pick No.3 – set to move to pick No.5 once bids are made for the father-sons.

The Dragons midfielder could join the Giants or the Suns on Wednesday night and is open to moving interstate to start his AFL career.

“I’m not too sure yet, the Giants haven’t said anything,” Callaghan told Sportsday.

“If it’s not the Giants, it’ll probably be the Suns. I don’t know anything yet.

“I did a Zoom (interview) with Leon (Cameron) probably around a month ago, but since then I haven’t spoken to him.

“I’ve come to terms with moving interstate. I don’t mind.”

Collingwood father-son "upset" by GWS draft snub

Brownlow Medallist and Sportsday co-host Gerard Healy added: “The inside mail on this is Leon likes Finn. That’s the inside mail.”

Callaghan was asked who he would take with the No.1 pick in this year’s draft.

“Probably Daicos with the No.1 pick,” he replied.

“Three votes every game this year. I’d probably take ‘Daics’.”

Sandringham could have six players selected inside the top 30 in this year’s draft - Callaghan, Josh Sinn, Campbell Chesser, Blake Howes, Marcus Windhager and Mitchito Owens.
