Josh Sinn admits he is a “football head” who is intrigued by the history of the Port Adelaide Football Club.
The Sandringham Dragons product was selected with pick 12 in the National Draft on Wednesday night after the Power traded up from 14 with the West Coast Eagles.
The in-draft move allowed Port to snap up the dashing defender who came up through the East Brighton Vampires juniors and attended Xavier College.
He will travel to Adelaide on Sunday before getting to work with his new club, of which he already has some intricate knowledge which will no doubt endear him to the faithful.
“I think I've been to Adelaide maybe two or three times, but being such a big football head and the 151 years of history at Port Adelaide, it's pretty cool,” he said on SEN SA Breakfast.
“For me, something that I've always carried all throughout my football is playing with a lot of pride, and I think that'll carry through Port Adelaide too, because there's so much rich history at the club.
“I think that's what the fans love as well. So for me, I just really want to, not just impress my teammates and my coaches from day one, but it's also putting the right foot forward for the fans as well.”
But after all of that, was he expecting to land at Alberton?
“I had a slight inkling before that Port were pretty keen to pick me up,” he added.
“So when I found out that they traded up just to try and get ahead of Essendon to pick me I was pretty stoked, because I guess I was pretty fixated on heading over to the 'pear'.”
The running Vic Metro backman is looking forward to working with new coach Ken Hinkley and cannot wait to experience playing in front of a full house at the Adelaide Oval.
“I love watching Port Adelaide, particularly their home games,” he said.
“It gives me tingles thinking about hopefully trying to crack into their team and ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ playing before the game at a home game.”
He has already spoken to Hinkley, and captain Tom Jonas, which he describes as “pretty cool” and is also anticipating being part of a Power side that will again challenge in 2022.
“I got to speak to Ken last night, which was pretty cool,” Sinn said further.
“Also Tom Jonas as well, that was also pretty cool. So (I was) a little bit star-struck at the time and just to kind of think that Ken is going to be my new coach and Tom Jonas is going to be my new teammate, it’s pretty cool when I think about it.
“What Ken’s been able to do with such a young, talented list and consistently be able to push them towards a Grand Final over the past several years, it's really exciting and hopefully I can help the club build towards something special.”
