Carlton's train-on players vying to replace Liam Jones officially joining training

2021-12-06T09:38+11:00

Carlton has confirmed they will take on two players to train with them over summer, as they look to fill the list spot vacated by Liam Jones’ retirement.

Jones opted to retire rather than get a COVID vaccine, giving the Blues the ability to replace him via the supplemental selection period.

Undrafted pair Josh Cripps and Tyreece Leiu will join the club across the pre-season.

Cripps, brother of Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps, stands at 199cm and can play both forward and in the ruck. He represented Northampton in the WAFL.

Leiu is a 194cm prospect out of the Eastern Rangers and plays as an intercept defender.

Carlton has used the supplemental selection previously, bringing in Michael Gibbons and Matt Cottrell in 2019 and Oscar McDonald in 2020.

They only used one pick at the National Draft, selecting small forward Jesse Motlop.
