Essendon has poached Gold Coast academy prospect Austin Harris, reports The Herald Sun.
Harris has reportedly joined the Bombers for pre-season and could play for the club’s VFL team in 2022.
The talented youngster was selected in the AFL Academy team which played in an exhibition game against Geelong’s VFL team this year.
The AFL Academy team was made up of the best 17 and 18 year olds in Australia.
In a further blow for the Suns, academy coach Andrew Raines left the club last week to spend more time on his business, ‘One On One Football’.
Raines was appointed head coach of Gold Coast’s academy in 2016. The 35-year-old played six games for the Suns in 2015.
