2022-01-11T09:05+11:00

One of Australia’s most loved sportspeople Andrew Gaze AM is returning home to 1116 SEN.

The basketball great and loveable media larrikin is the new co-host of SEN’s drive show with Andrew Maher.

To signal his return, SEN is re-introducing its popular drive brand “The Run Home”.

“The Run Home” with Andy and Gazey, which begins on January 31, re-unites two great mates and former on-air colleagues who were last heard together during channel Seven’s Olympic overage as well as on SEN in November last year.

Gaze is a 7-time NBL MVP, NBA Champion and 11-time NBL scoring champion. He is a five-time Olympian and was the official flag bearer and captain of the Australian team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

But for all his accolades, he is loved as much by the Australian public for his sense of humour and character. Maher said he couldn’t wait to welcome Gaze home.

“The world is always a better place when you’re in the company of Australia’s captain Andrew Gaze,” Maher said.

“Can’t think of a better daily antidote to the challenges we’re all facing than a few hours talking sport and life with this magnificent human being.”

Gaze said he was rapt to return to SEN.

“Andy Maher is one of the great broadcasters in the country. His knowledge of sport is unsurpassed, and he provides unique insights and humour to issues that matter. I'm excited and privileged to have the opportunity to sit alongside Andy for 3 hours a day and talk sport”

National head of radio content Sam Thompson said she was delighted. “It’s great to have Andy and Gazey back together on SEN. This is a partnership that’s easy to listen to - mates talking sport and having a laugh. Perfect for The Run Home each day.”

The Run Home with Andy and Gazey begins on SEN 1116 on Monday January 31, running Monday to Friday from 3pm to 6pm.

SEN is the largest syndicator of sports radio content across Australia. The business owns and operates 51 radio stations across Australia and New Zealand, including 1116 SEN Melbourne, 1170 SEN Sydney, 1629 SEN SA in Adelaide, as well as 15 stations under its racing brand SENTrack. It also owns a newspaper, magazine, and talent management business.
