Report: Scott Boland in doubt for Hobart Test

2022-01-11T08:32+11:00

Aussie quick Scott Boland is reportedly in doubt to play in the fifth Ashes Test.

The Age is reporting that the 32-year-old played through pain in Sydney after falling on his elbow and ribs during the Test.

With the help of painkillers, Boland was able to push through and continue bowling.

The Victorian has been a revelation across the last two Tests, taking 14 wickets at a ridiculous average of 8.64.

The Australian pace battery has had to shuffle quite significantly across the Ashes, with only Mitchell Starc in line to play all five Tests.

Captain Pat Cummins missed the Adelaide Test in COVID protocols, while Josh Hazlewood has already been ruled out of playing in Hobart.

Jhye Richardson remains unlikely after playing in Adelaide, dealing with his own injury issues, leaving Michael Neser as the likely replacement if Boland cannot play.

Neser also played in Adelaide, but missed selection in Sydney dealing with injury issues of his own.

The Hobart Test gets underway on Friday and you can hear every ball of the series live and free on SEN.
