Stood-down Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey’s New York court case has been adjourned until January 28.
The 25-year-old faced court on Wednesday morning via video link where his lawyer Jacob Kaplan told the court that he was waiting an offer from the Assistant District Attorney to have the charges downgraded from assault and harassment to a single count of harassment in the second degree.
Reports suggest that the plea deal will be accepted once the defence finds an appropriate program for De Goey to complete in Australia, meaning he will not be required to return to the US.
Such an agreement would bring an end to proceedings and potentially open the door for De Goey to return to the Magpies.
