Port Adelaide young gun provides contract update

2022-01-25T07:02+11:00

Port Adelaide young gun Connor Rozee admits his contract situation is “not a massive priority” right now, but hopes to ink a new deal in the coming months.

The 22-year-old, who comes out of contract this year, told reporters on Monday that his manager has opened talks with the Power over a new deal.

Entering his fourth season at Alberton, Rozee has kicked 59 goals in 59 games for Port and still has a lot of untapped potential after bursting onto the scene in his debut season in 2019.

“Still going over that with the club at the moment. I leave that sort of stuff mostly to my manager,” the former No.5 draft pick said.

“I think they’re slowly talking with the club at the moment and hopefully sometime soon or during the year well get that sorted, but it’s not a massive priority at the moment. Pre-season’s the main one and being fit for Round 1.

“I really enjoy playing for Port Adelaide and have loved my first four years here, so I’m sure that will get put to bed soon.

“I obviously love playing in Adelaide and I’m an Adelaide boy, so hopefully down the line we can get that sorted.”

The Power will look to lock away Rozee and emerging young star Zak Butters to new deals with their current contracts due to expire at the end of 2022.

The promising Port pair were selected in the first round of the 2018 National Draft.
