Josh Jenkins' “most memorable” game of his career and Kane Cornes favourite comeback win

In the wake of Tom Brady and Tampa Bay nearly pulling off one of the biggest come from behind wins in NFL history, Kane Cornes and Josh Jenkins have named their personal favourite comeback wins from their careers.

Cornes named a clash with North Melbourne from 2012 where the Power came from 27 points down to steal the win at AAMI Stadium.

They took the lead in the 30th minute of the final quarter thanks to a Paul Stewart goal on the run. Jay Schulz booted seven goals for the Power, while Drew Petrie kicked five for the Kangaroos.

“We were hopeless in 2012, won five games for the year, and we were about 30 points down to North Melbourne at the old footy park and somehow came back and won,” Cornes told SEN Breakfast.

“Paul Stewart kicked this amazing running goal and I thought we were never going to win it.

“That’s one that sticks out for me and North fans might remember that one.”

As for Jenkins, he also recalls a win over the Roos back in 2013. They came back from 30 points down in the final term, also taking the lead in the dying seconds thanks to a Jared Petrenko goal.

Sam Kerridge was the hero for the Crows with six goals, Jenkins booted three, while Lindsay Thomas kicked five for North.

“Same team – we played the Roos at Docklands on a Sunday afternoon and I think the Roos had coughed up leads late in games for the last two or three weeks before we’d played them,” the former Crow said.

“I’m not sure what the score was, it was five or six goals at different stages in the last quarter.

“Sam Kerridge had 24 disposals and kicked six goals in about his fifth game. He was at Carlton about two years later.

“We came from absolutely nowhere. It was Indigenous Round, Jared Petrenko kicked a goal out of the air – for what reason he didn’t pick the ball up and kick it, I’ve got no idea, but he kicked it out of the air with about eight seconds to go and we won the game.

“We flew straight home after that game, it was the quickest flight ever. It was the most enjoyable 50 minutes you could ever have on an airplane. That would be my most memorable game I nearly think.”
