Geelong duo to undergo surgery, forward's return timeline unclear

2022-02-02T15:45+11:00

Geelong forward Gryan Miers will undergo surgery after suffering an ankle injury.

The syndesmosis injury occurred at training with no timeline yet on his return date.

Cats GM of Football Simon Lloyd said they would be cautious with his recovery.

“We reviewed the scans and considered all possible options before determining that surgery was required. As we have seen with this type of injury, it is difficult to outline a return date, as everyone heals and rehabs differently. Gryan will undertake his rehabilitation diligently and professionally to get back on the field as soon as possible,” Lloyd said.

Miers has played 61 career games for the Cats since being selected with pick 57 in the 2017 National Draft.

Jon Ceglar has also undergone a minor knee arthroscope, but is expected to make a fast recovery.

The ruckman joined Geelong in the off-season in a trade with Hawthorn.
