The devastating Queensland floods have begun to impact the Brisbane Broncos and Gold Coast Titans.
The Titans’ final pre-season match against the Warriors was initially moved from Saturdan night to a Monday night fixture before being cancelled at the 11th hour due to the unsafe playing conditions.
NRL legend and immortal Mal Meninga holds concerns that the Titans and Broncos will be severely disadvantaged in the lead into the opening round.
“Cbus Stadium is in a wetland…so access to any type of training ground (will be tough),” Meninga said on 1170 SEN Breakfast.
“The past two pre-seasons, the field has been underwater.
“They’ll lose some training facilities and some of the schools they train at.”
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszcuk said that Brisbane alone had experienced nearly as much rain as they would expect during a typical rain season in four days.
The field at Suncorp Stadium was almost completely submerged in water.

Meninga proposed that the Titans would have to relocate temporarily until the flood waters had receded and it was safe to return to their facilities.
“They’ll have to relocate,” Meninga added.
“Just to get any sort of training this week.
“Considering (the Titans) didn’t play (Monday) night or over the weekend.”
Suncorp Stadium is now in a race against time to ensure the ground is ready for the Broncos opening round clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs on March 11.
