Sydney has launched a bid to locate the exact footy Lance Franklin used to kick his 1,000th goal on Friday night, according to SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund.
In what has become a prized possession from an iconic moment in football history, the Swans are working the host broadcaster Channel 7 and SCG security to find the fan who claimed the ball.
Edmund reports that a reward will be on offer for the person who hands over the footy.
“Sydney is about to launch an appeal to find Buddy’s 1000th goal Sherrin,” he said on SEN’s Crunch Time.

“There is a reward (for the person) – they can come to training, meet Lance (Franklin) and hand the ball over.
“I’m not sure how they’re going to get the ball back, whoever has got it is sitting on something significant.
“Sydney is combing through the (security) vision at the moment (to find the person).”
Franklin booted four majors to bring up the milestone against Geelong on Friday night, becoming just the sixth player in VFL/AFL history to kick 1,000 goals.
