Talented Glenelg utility Ashton Moir is “one of the absolute contenders” to be the No.1 pick in the 2023 National Draft.

AFL Media draft expert Cal Twomey says Moir’s ability to accurately kick on both sides of his body is a hallmark of his game.

The South Australian teenager has kicked 19 goals in six under 18 matches for Glenelg this season and is averaging a tick over 17 disposals per game.

“There’s a guy in South Australia … his name is Ashton Moir,” Twomey told SEN Breakfast.

“He’s in next year’s draft, the 2023 draft, he’s playing for Glenelg, his kicking on both feet like nothing you’ve ever seen before – he is one of the absolute contenders for the No.1 pick next year.

“Ashton Moir, put him down on your list.”

Another player eligible for the 2023 draft is Zane Duursma, the younger brother of Port Adelaide wingman Xavier.

Duursma kicked six goals for Gippsland Power against Bendigo Pioneers in the NAB League last weekend and shapes as a potential top 10 selection in 2023.

“He’s 188cm. Another player who will be right in the mix for top 10 selection,” Twomey said of Duursma.

“Very different player to Xavier, he’s more of an overhead marker, a forward and really, really talented.

“Xavier went pick 18 in his draft, I dare say Zane will be going a little bit earlier. He’s a very exciting prospect.”

Twomey also provided a name to keep an eye on in this year’s draft.

“Elijah Tsatas is probably the best performing midfielder so far in this year’s draft for the Oakleigh Chargers,” he said.

“We talk about the West Coast Eagles having pick No.1, at the moment, he would be right in that mix.”
