Noble left frustrated by turnovers after North Melbourne suffers another heavy defeat

2022-05-07T10:16+10:00

North Melbourne coach David Noble has voiced his frustration at his side’s constant turnovers following their 78-point loss to Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

The Roos were humbled 15.12 (102) to 3.6 (24) by one of the competition’s best sides as their torrid run of results this year continued, notching up their equal ninth lowest score in club history.

Noble, who is currently in his second year as North Melbourne coach, said it was impossible to compete if North Melbourne kept routinely turning the ball over.

"Stop turning the ball over," a frustrated Noble said post-match on Friday night.

"They're hard to penetrate but when you give the ball back you get punished severely. We've got other parts of our game but I thought that was the major part tonight."

"We've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes in our contested footy. We didn’t fare too well in clearances tonight. It feels like each week we've got one thing that pops up where we get severely taken advantage of."

Key defender Ben McKay was subbed out at three quarter time, with Noble confirming that he had suffered a suspected medial injury.

North Melbourne’s next assignment is a trip to Hobart as they host Port Adelaide, who have now won three games in a row after their victory against Western Bulldogs on Friday night.
