Race 8: Group 1 TAB Doomben 10,000

Selection: #9 - Mazu

“I’ve gone with Mazu – had it of been a good track I would’ve taken Mazu on, no problems at all, he’s obviously a very good wet tracker and his good track form isn’t as good," Nelson said on SEN Track.

“We will be racing on some sort of a soft surface and that’s going to suit him down to the ground.

“We know he’s flying, he just keeps raising the bar every run this campaign and you add in the fact that he’s going to get that lovely run behind them, he has to be the way to go.”

Race 7: Group 3 Drinkwise Rough Habit Plate

Selection: #8 - Southern Rock

“I really do think Southern Stock has a great each way chance in this race. He’s a Tavistock so he won’t have an issue with the heavy ground and he’ll get the trip no worries at all.

“He loves Eagle Farm, I think there’s a bit in his favour, the more I look at him the more I think he’s over the odds.”

Race 5: Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic

Selection: #19 - Ringmaster

“He ran on very well late last start, he’ll be better on something drier and I think he’s a really nice horse from what I’ve seen.

“If he gets a start, I think he’ll be hard to beat.”

Along with Eagle Farm, Morphettville will play host to Group 1 racing highlighted by the South Australia Derby.

Lincoln Moore from Winning Edge Investments has done the form for the feature over 2500m.

Race 8: Group 1 South Australian Derby

Selection: #1 - Alegron

“The more I look at this race the more I think Alegron is almost a good thing,” he said.

“He’s got the right form around Hitotsu, he looks placed to the minute, has drawn perfect with Damien Oliver.

“The more I look at the race I just think he should be winning. I’m very very keen on Alegron.”
