Blue ruled out for remainder of 2022 season, pair of defenders available to return

2022-05-19T10:17+10:00

Carlton defender Oscar McDonald will miss the remainder of the season due to a stress fracture in his back.

It will be the second straight year where a back injury has derailed his campaign.

McDonald, who was picked up as a delisted free agent by the Blues, pushed himself into the club’s best 22 in the absence of Liam Jones, but has not been able to get his body right.

Carlton will now have two picks available to make in this year’s mid-season draft.

In better news for Carlton, fellow key defender Lewis Young is set to be available for selection after missing in health and safety protocols.

Liam Stocker is also likely to be available after missing the GWS clash with both a shoulder injury and a one-week suspension.

Zac Williams comes out of the side after suffering a high-grade calf injury.

The Blues take on Sydney this Friday night.
