Johns anoints Reynolds’ move as one of the last decade’s best NRL signings

Rugby league great Matty Johns believes Adam Reynolds has “transformed” the Broncos since arriving from South Sydney in the off-season.

Reynolds, 31, signed for Brisbane after 10 years in first-grade with the Rabbitohs, opting to move north in search of greater contract security.

Inking a three-year deal, Reynolds was almost immediately named club captain and he’s led the side to a record of 7-4 from 11 games, including five straight wins.

While Reynolds missed the Broncos’ most recent win over the Knights with injury, Johns believes he’s in “career-best form” and that his signature could be one of the most significant acquired by any club in the last decade.

“The Broncos have always had a great pack of forwards and some very good outside backs, but what they lacked is a steering wheel,” Johns explained on SEN 1170 The Run Home.

“Adam Reynolds has arrived there, and I knew he’d make a difference, but I thought, ‘Well if they can creep into the eight, he’s done a remarkable job’.

“He’s in career-best form, and he’s transformed the Broncos.

“Without a doubt, when people ask me, ‘Is it the best signing of the season?’, it could be one of the best signings we’ve seen in the last decade of the game if he keeps his form and the Broncos’ streak continues.”

After failing a fitness test to get up for their most recent game, Reynolds will be hoping to return for the Broncos as they chase their sixth straight win against the Titans next Friday night.
