Which team is Melbourne's most likely challenger?

Who is Melbourne’s most likely challenger?

It’s a question that continues to be posed as the Dees keep winning, with their most recent victory coming against North Melbourne on Saturday.

Sportsday co-host Sam McClure posed the question to both Gerard Healy and Matthew Lloyd on Monday night, with Healy saying that Carlton’s best footy is the highest quality he's seen so far from any side.

Lloyd said due to the fixture, a full-strength Brisbane side would be able to test their credentials against Melbourne in quick succession during the remaining rounds.

See the full conversation below:

Lloyd: “The Blues have a strong clearance team and high-end pressure but the worry for me is they can’t sustain it for four quarters.”

Healy: “Their best footy is the best I’ve seen this year. A couple of quarters against Hawthorn and the stuff against Sydney, that was amazing.

Lloyd: “(Joe) Daniher, (Eric) Hipwood and (Daniel) McStay back (later in the year)…Melbourne and Brisbane play twice in the last eight or nine rounds so we’re going to find out.

Healy: “The pace of Richmond I think is enticing, they’re going to have to get their very best side back and have no injury.

Lloyd: "I don’t think Richmond has the depth, Fremantle is falling away, St Kilda is not there yet and no to Geelong.

Carlton takes on Melbourne for the first time this season in Round 22, while Brisbane takes on the Demons in both Round 15 and 23.
