Former Bomber leads the way in sloppy SANFL tackle-fest

2022-06-06T11:45+10:00

Former Essendon midfielder Dylan Clarke got down and dirty for Woodville-West Torrens in a sloppy SANFL tackle-fest on the weekend.

The Eagles edged South Adelaide 28-27 at home in a low-scoring affair at a sodden Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Sunday.

Remarkably, the losing side laid more tackles than they had kicks.

The stats show that the Panthers had an enormous 198 tackles (184 kicks), while the reigning premiers laid 139 (and 187 kicks).

Clarke was the most prolific tackler with a game-high 19 (13 disposals) ahead of South Adelaide pair Luke Bogle (18) and Sam Overall (17).

The conditions were so tough that the latter butchered what could be considered as one of the easiest shots at goal you will ever see.

Check it out below:

Ex-Crow Riley Knight had 14 tackles for the Eagles to go with his game-best 30 disposals, while former Saint Oscar Clavarino took a team-high four marks for the Panthers.

Every player laid at least one tackle each with 11 laying five or more for the Eagles and 18 laying five or more for the Panthers.

The triumph has Woodville two games clear in the five with South Adelaide in seventh.
