Tigers captain suffers another injury setback

2022-06-07T10:25+10:00

Wests Tigers talisman Adam Doueihi will miss at least another month of football according to The Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis.

Doueihi last played in Round 23 2021 after suffering a second ACL injury and after undergoing a successful knee reconstruction, the 23-year-old was slated for a Round 14 return.

However, Carayannis said that the club doesn’t want to risk the health of one of their brightest stars for a season that has already all but finished.

“No, he won’t play,” Carayannis said to 1170 SEN Breakfast.

“This was his due date to come back but some at the club want to take a safety-first approach.

“He’s only 23 and he’s coming back off the back of a second ACL (injury) on the same knee.

“Their (the club’s) plan is to let him rehab for a little bit longer but there were some suggestions that he would miss the whole year.

“Adam is definitely keen to come back before then.

“He’ll be on the sidelines for at least another month before we see him play again.”

The Tigers are desperate for one of their captains to return to the park as the club has slumped to a 3-9 record at the midway point of the season amid a full club review.

Carayannis also suggested that Tigers coach Michael Maguire could be moved on from the club following the Round 14 match against the Manly Sea Eagles.

“Will Michael Maguire survive? I’m not sure.

“I’d be shocked if he was the Wests Tigers coach beyond this year.”

The Tigers host the Sea Eagles on Sunday June 12 at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
