Why Walker’s “temperament” is a “massive problem” for struggling Rabbitohs

2022-06-17T09:53+10:00

South Sydney playmaker Cody Walker was left frustrated after putting in a poor individual performance in Thursday night’s loss to St George Illawarra in Wollongong.

Walker was one of many Rabbitohs that couldn’t get going in the 32-12 defeat, with young halfback Lachlan Ilias subbed off after less than half an hour.

As Walker was spotted throughout the night yelling at teammates and getting into scuffles with his Dragons opponents, SEN’s Greg Alexander and Andrew Voss feel that the veteran is becoming distracted without Adam Reynolds by his side.

Alexander: “Cody Walker can be a frustrated footballer sometimes.

“But last night was as bad as he’s been in terms of being distracted.

“He didn’t have the game on his mind at all, he wanted to pull, push, shove players, he was completely distracted.”

Voss: “I think it’s a big talking point.”

Alexander: “It is.”

Voss: “I think his temperament is a massive problem for the club.

“Without Adam Reynolds there, Cody Walker is missing Adam Reynolds more than any other human on the earth.”

Alexander: “Cody needs to focus on the game and keep his cool.

“It got to the ridiculous stage last night that anytime he was near a Dragons player he was pushing, pulling, shoving.

“You can’t have a senior player carrying on like that.”

Walker and the Rabbitohs will be desperate to respond when they host the Eels at Accor Stadium next Saturday night.
