Noble backs current North processes, welcomes Walsh appointment

North Melbourne coach David Noble has welcomed the club’s appointment of veteran AFL administrator Geoff Walsh in a short-term advisory role.

Walsh has spent several decades working in football, including two separate stints at North Melbourne where he served as both football director and CEO.

Walsh’s role at North Melbourne will largely see him working with the club’s football department, both on match day and during the week.

Noble said he was excited to have someone of Walsh’s expertise at his disposal, who he pledged the entire club would learn off in his time at Arden Street.

“It’s an area that I think it’s an opportunity for us to use a person who’s been in the industry for a long time,” he said on SEN SA’s The Run Home.

“(Geoff Walsh is) very experienced, been a CEO and a football manager at a couple of clubs including ours, he understands the emotion that this football club has and its attachment to the members.

“If there is ever an opportunity to continue to learn and you can access someone else’s intellect that allows you to move forward, then I’m all for it.

“What I think we’ll find is 80 or 90 per cent of what we’re doing is in the right direction, we’re confident we’re doing what we need to do and taking our time and being really consistent with what we’re doing.

“But there might be a couple of ideas he’ll bring in that allows us to tweak and move our club forward, if that’s the case then why wouldn’t we use someone of his ilk.”

North Melbourne remains anchored to the bottom of the ladder, but will be eyeing off just their second win of the season when they take on 15th-placed Adelaide at Blundstone Arena on Sunday.
