“We just can’t cop it”: Cornes urges fans to hit back against controversial rule

2022-06-25T11:58+10:00

Kane Cornes is growing increasingly frustrated with the 10-metre protected zone area rule.

Urging fans to voice their dissatisfaction against the rule, Cornes says supporters shouldn’t “cop” this interpretation.

The protected area rule was in the spotlight again after Cam Rayner was penalised on Thursday night, leading to a James Jordon goal from point black range, triggering Cornes and former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas.

Speaking on Friday morning, the Port Adelaide premiership player didn’t hold back in his disdain for the rule.

“I’m going to sing it from the rooftops until it goes away, I apologise if it’s boring all of you but the 10-metre protected zone has to go,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.

“We can’t cop it as footy fans, my old man was tweeting, Grant Thomas was tweeting and my twitter feed was going (off).

“Keep it coming, we just can’t cop it.”
