The news keeps getting better for Collingwood fans with Darcy Cameron inking a fresh three-year deal with the club.
Cameron, 26, has emerged as a star for the Magpies in 2022, proving his worth as a number one ruck with Brodie Grundy out injured as Collingwood relaunches under Craig McRae.
Collingwood GM of football Graham Wright praised Cameron for his ability to step up in recent months while adding how pleased the club is to secure the West Australian’s signature.
“Darcy’s performances over the past few years have continued to improve and become really consistent, both as a forward and in the ruck,” Wright said via a club statement.
“This year with Brodie being unavailable due to injury, Darcy had to step up to lead our ruck division and has played a key role in our improved recent form.
“We’re delighted he’s committed himself to the club for a further three seasons.”
The big man was hugely impressive in Collingwood’s 88-77 win over GWS on Sunday as he tallied 17 disposals, two goals and 23 hitouts in the victory.
He’ll hope to continue his strong form up against Jarrod Witts when the Magpies face the Suns on the Gold Coast next Saturday.
