Blues rule youngsters out for the season in massive injury update

2022-06-27T18:25+10:00

Carlton defender Luke Parks has been ruled out for the season as he continues to recover from a stress fracture in his foot.

The 21-year-old has played just two games this year and is one of a number of key defenders who have been unavailable for the club.

Meanwhile, fellow defender Jordan Boyd will miss most of the remainder of the season after the youngster suffered a foot fracture in last week’s win over Fremantle.

Boyd was subbed out in the final quarter on Saturday, with scans confirming a fracture. However, he remains a chance to play later in the year, according to the club.

Forward Sam Philp has also been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot after pulling up sore in the VFL and will not play again this year.

The Blues have been struck down by an injury curse in 2022, however the troops are set to return in the coming weeks.

The club confirmed Adam Cerra (hamstring) and Jack Martin (calf) are both listed as tests to return this week against St Kilda, while Lachie Fogarty could also be available after missing last week with back stiffness.

Matt Owies was withdrawn during the warmup on Saturday and is also a test to return.

For the following weeks, Jacob Weitering (shoulder) is expected to return in Round 17, while Mitch McGovern and Sam Durdin should play football in the next three weeks.

However, ruckman Marc Pittonet is further away. The club says he will look to increse his training loads in the coming weeks, with how he responds to dictate when he returns to AFL footy.

The club’s win over Fremantle in Round 15 was a vital one for their season, overcoming a nervous period with numerous key outs to confirm themselves as contenders for this year’s premiership.

They’ll play St Kilda under the Marvel Stadium roof on Friday night.
