“That’s what I’m hearing”: Update on the West Tigers coaching job

2022-07-13T07:25+10:00

Tim Sheens will reportedly take the role as coach of the Wests Tigers, according to SEN’s Michelle Bishop.

The club’s head of football has been heavily linked with the role this week and it is understood that he has now agreed to terms on a two-year deal.

Bishop broke the news on Wednesday morning.

“I have been told, I got a phone call late last night that there was a meeting at the Wests Tigers yesterday,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“We are of the understanding that Tim Sheens has actually agreed to terms to coach the Wests Tigers over a two-year period.

“That will mean he can work with the likes of Brett Kimmorley and mentor him.

“I still believe that Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah will be working in and around. Their lifestyles don’t suit signing on with the coaching staff full-time. Robbie Farah’s got a few businesses and Benji Marshall has got a fair bit happening on the outside.

“That’s the scenario, that’s what I’m hearing this morning that there was a meeting late yesterday and Tim Sheens has agreed to terms to coach the Wests Tigers for the next two years.”

Sheens, 71, previously coached the club between 2003 and 2012.

The Tigers parted ways with Michael Maguire in early June with Brett Kimmorley installed as the interim coach.
