Melbourne United star White inks NBA deal with Denver Nuggets

Melbourne United forward Jack White is the latest Aussie to join the NBA after signing a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets.

The former Duke captain earned his shot with Denver after impressing in the Summer League with an opening performance of eight points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and two assists against the Cavaliers before backing that up with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals against the Clippers.

Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson is excited to see what White can achieve in the world’s best league.

“We have seen the incredible amount of work he has put in, and with the talent he has we had a feeling that this was a real possibility for him when he was selected to play in the Summer League,” Truelson said via a statement.

“Jack is a fantastic person, athlete and player, and we can’t wait to see what he can do now that he has been given this opportunity in the NBA.”

Under the two-way contract structure, White will spend most of his time with the Nuggets’ G League affiliate the Grand Rapids Gold while spending up to 45 days with the NBA team.

White is set to earn $502,000 (USD) with the deal and can play up to 50 regular season games for the Nuggets in the 2022/23 season.

The wing joins draftees Dyson Daniels (Pelicans) and Luke Travers (Cavaliers) as the newest Australians in the Association.
