SEN host Gerard Whateley has pinpointed 12 “swing games” that will shape the top eight come the end of the home and away season.
There are five clubs vying for eighth spot as things stand while seven teams are jostling for a top four berth.
Whateley has cast his eye on a dozen games that will decide the finals fate of several clubs.
“With five rounds remaining there are a dozen swing games laden with endless possibilities,” he told SEN’s Whateley.
“Do Richmond set things right against Fremantle? Can the Bulldogs finally challenge Melbourne? How will the Demons fare when they head west to face the Dockers? Geelong and the Bulldogs know what a thriller looks like.
“Richmond and Brisbane will meet at the ‘G, Melbourne and Collingwood with the strong echoes of Queen’s Birthday still fresh, the Bulldogs host the Dockers, the Blues are drawn at the Gabba against the Lions, we’ve waited all season for Melboune and Carlton when that comes around.
“Could the Pies still be on a role when they meet Sydney? And at the end, Brisbane and Melbourne and Collingwood and Carlton again.
“A quite remarkable set of matches. And that’s not counting the games involving Gold Coast and Port Adelaide or even those tricky encounters now with Essendon.
“Quite often you can get to this point of the season and there’s barely a handful of matches of real consequence to light the way – this year, there’s a dozen or more.”
