Daisy Pearce has responded to the comments from former caller Rex Hunt that questioned her authority as an AFL commentator.
Hunt took aim at Channel 7 for choosing to replace AFL great Wayne Carey with Pearce on its Friday night broadcast.
Fox Footy commentator Dermott Brereton defended Hunt in an article by the Herald Sun, but on Wednesday suggested the headline didn’t reflect what he had to say.
Pearce, speaking on the comments for the first time, said she was originally reluctant to discuss the topic, but felt a responsibility to others in the industry who could be disheartened by what was said about her.
The interview won the praise of AFLPA president Patrick Dangerfield, as well as many others, who described Pearce as “all class”.
