Liam Baker has signed a new contract with Richmond, turning his back on reported interest from West Coast.
The 24-year-old was being linked with the Eagles and a return to Western Australia, but has put pen to a two-year deal with the Tigers.
The two-time premiership player is now locked away at Punt Road until the end of 2024.
Richmond’s general manager of football talent, Blair Hartley, was thrilled to announce the re-signing of the versatile and tenacious Baker.
“Liam is an important player for us both on and off the field,” he said in a club statement.
“He is very popular among players, staff, and coaches, an excellent contributor to our culture, and an important part of our future.
“Liam has worked extremely hard since coming to the Club as a rookie selection from Western Australia and has been rewarded with individual and team success.
“We look forward to watching Liam continue to grow as a footballer, leader, and person across the next two years and beyond.”
Baker, who finished equal second in last year’s best and fairest, has played 82 games for the Tigers.
He debuted in 2018 after being selected in the rookie draft prior to that season.
