Carlton great Mark Maclure has paid tribute to Collingwood champion Billy Picken, who passed away aged 66.
Picken played 212 games for the Magpies between 1974 and 1983, winning two Copeland Trophy awards, before adding another 28 games with Sydney.
The one-time All-Australian defender played in five Grand Finals without achieving the ultimate success.
Maclure had some great on-field battles with Picken during the 1970s and 1980s.

“He was a character and that’s what he was like,” the former Blues captain told SEN’s This Is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers.
“He was always talking to you on the ground, we had a laugh and a giggle all the time about what was going on around the place, but what a great competitor, what an incredible competitor he was.
“Turning up to play against Collingwood, I loved it, I absolutely loved every second being with him on the ground.
“He was funny … there’s no characters anymore.
“I loved being in his company. It’s just total fun the whole time.”
Picken’s son Liam was a member of the Western Bulldogs’ premiership team in 2016.
