Dockers’ selection boost with finals on the horizon

2022-08-11T11:36+10:00

Fremantle young gun Jye Amiss will return to football via the WAFL this weekend.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir confirmed on SEN WA’s The Run Home that Amiss will run out for Peel Thunder on Saturday.

Amiss, the eighth pick overall in last year’s National Draft, was placed on the inactive list after suffering a kidney injury that required surgery in May.

But the 19-year-old key forward has recovered well and is back in the selection frame with finals on the horizon.

“He’s actually going to play this weekend for Peel,” Longmuir said.

“He’s had a really, really good recovery from that injury he had to his kidney earlier in the season.

“We put him on the long-term injury list and probably thought it might have been season over.

“But he’s had a really strong recovery, so he’ll come back and play this week.

“That’s really exciting for him and us as a club.”

Amiss kicked two goals and took five marks on debut against North Melbourne in Round 8, his sole senior appearance so far in 2022.

The Dockers sewed up a finals spot after beating the Western Bulldogs last week.

Longmuir’s side are preparing to tackle West Coast in the Western Derby on Saturday night.
